RINKER
Mayor
October, 1997
RE: Zoning Issue on November Ballot
Dear Mayfield Village Voters:
Election day on November 4, 1997, will present you with Issue 38 which relates to a
zoning matter for your consideration. As you know, the Charter of the Village of Mayfield
requires any rezoning of land within the Village to be approved by the voters. The following
issue was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission as well as Village Council and
now requires approval of the voters.
Ordinance No. 97-25 was introduced in June of this year proposing to rezone
portions of certain parcels to the rear of 6660 Beta Drive, and three adjacent properties,
from U-1 Single Family Residential zoning to Production-Distribution zoning. The rezoning
would even up the lines of the Production-Distribution District and the Single Family
Residential District behind the Beta Drive properties. A map of the area to be rezoned is
attached hereto. The area to be rezoned to Production-Distribution has hash marks across
it and is currently residential. The dotted areas already exist as Production-Distribution
zoning. The blank areas are residential zoning.
Council considered the rezoning in July and August, as did the Planning and Zoning
Commission. A public hearing was held before the ordinance was adopted on August 11,
1997. The owners of the properties support the change, and there were no objections
from any residents or adjacent property owners.
Should you have any questions pertaining to the ordinance as proposed and the
ballot issue as it will appear, please feel free to contact myself or the Village Engineer for a
more detailed explanation. Should you wish to review the zone map and the other
documents relevant to this issue, you may also do so by contacting the Village Engineer or
myself.
Very' t ly y urs~ ( -,
~" J set W.
