Ordinance 97-29 <br />2. The Municipality shall purchase for each newly employed fiill time police officer having arrest power all items <br />as listed on the Schedule on file with the Police Chief and previously approved by the Mayor and Council. <br />Each newly employed full time member of the Fire Department shall be reimbursed for the costs of uniforms <br />purchased by that member for use in the member's employment in an amount not to exceed the sum of Five <br />Hundred seventy-five Dollars ($575.00). Each newly employed full-time member of the Police Department not <br />having arrest powers shall be reimbursed for the cost of uniforms for use in that member's employment. There <br />shall not be additional uniform allowance during the first yeaz of employment for any of the abovementioned <br />employees. Each purchase above authorized shall be paid by the Finance Department upon submittal of <br />receipts signed and approved by the Chief of the respective department. <br />3. Commencing with the second (2nd) year of employment, and continuing each yeaz thereafter, each full-time <br />employee of the Police Department having arrest powers and all full-time employees of the Fire Department <br />shall receive a uniform allowance in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty dollars ($550) in 1997, Five Hundred <br />Seventy Five dollars ($575) in 1998 and Six Hundred dollars ($600) in 1999. Each full time member of the <br />Service Department shall receive Two Hundred Fifty dollars ($250) in 1997, Three Hundred dollazs ($300) in <br />1998 and Three Hundred Fifty dollazs($350) in 1999. Each full time employee of the Police Department not <br />having arrest powers shall receive a uniform allowance in the amount of Four Hundred Twenty Five dollars <br />($425) in 1997, Four Hundred Fifty dollars ($450) beginning in 1998 and Four Hundred Seventy Five dollars <br />($475) in 1999. The amounts stated for uniform allowance herein may also be used for uniform maintenance <br />by the employee. Amounts paid hereunder and per paragraph 6 herein, shall be prorated for the time period <br />between the employee's first anniversary date and December 31st of that yeaz. Similarly, upon termination, an <br />employee would be entitled to a pro-rata share of the uniform allowance on a reimbursement basis for uniform <br />items purchased in the year of termination. Such pro-rata share will be paid upon receipt of the proper <br />paperwork and department head approval with the first accounts payable check run after the receipt of such <br />papenvork <br />4. The Police Department, upon approval and having received an authorized purchase order and number from the <br />Finance Department, shall purchase items necessary to equip each newly appointed auxiliary and part-time <br />police officer as listed on the appropriate Schedule on file with the Police Chief and previously approved by <br />the Mayor and Council. In the event that such officer is employed as a full time police officer for another <br />municipality, or has previously served as a Mayfield Village Auxiliary Police Office, and by reason thereof, <br />has already had purchased for him any of the items appearing on the Schedule, and such items are fit for use in <br />Mayfield Village, then the Village will not purchase such items for the officer and he shall not be entitled to <br />receive the cash equivalent of any such item. <br />5. Each part-time firefighter shall receive a uniform allowance in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred <br />Twenty Five dollars ($325.00) in 1997, Three Hundred Fifty dollars ($350) beginning in 1998 and Three <br />Hundred Seventy Five dollars ($375) beginning in .1999, provided such part-time firefighter attends at least <br />twenty (20) drills annually. Any part-time firefighter who does not attend at least twenty (20) drills during the <br />year or spends an equivalent amount of time in classes or seminazs which aze approved by the Fire Chief, <br />forfeits any right to uniform allowance for the next calendar year. <br />6. The Finance Director is hereby authorized to reimburse all members of the Police and Fire Departments for <br />expenditures made in accordance with Subsections C(2), (3), (4) and (5) hereinabove, provided, however, that <br />receipted bills evidencing the purchase are submitted together with an approval for payment by the respective <br />Chiefs of the Departments by January 7th. Once approved expense forms aze received in the Finance <br />Department, the Finance Director is further authorized to make such distributions in the following accounts <br />payable check run in January for the expenditures made in the prior calendar year. If the Village cannot make <br />the purchase directly, and employees are required to so, then they shall be reimbursed any sales tax incurred. <br />Page 8 of 17 <br />
