See corrected copy <br />RESOLUTION N0. 90- 32 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />URGING THE OHIO SENATE TO ENACT <br />SENATE BILL 367 WHICH PROHIBIT THE SALE OF <br />ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT GAS STATIONS AND OTHER RETAIL. <br />ESTABLISHMENTS THAT SELL GASOLINE. <br />WHEREAS, there has been a proliferation of new permits to sell alcohol <br />at gas stations and other retail establishments that sell gasoline; and <br />WHEREAS, this one stop shopping is contradictory to the laws aimed at <br />discouraging the combination of drinking and driving; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1988 forty-four percent.(44~) of all traffic fatalities were <br />alcohol related; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council believe that such establishment increase <br />the opportunity and provide the convenience for an individual to drive while <br />impaired or intoxicated; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio for them- <br />selves and on behalf of the residents of the Municipality, urge the Ohio <br />Senate to enact Senate Bill 367 to prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages at <br />gas stations and other retail establishments that sell gasoline. <br />SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this Resolution to Governor Richard F. Celeste, President of <br />the Senate Paul Gilmour and to the Cuyahoga County delegation to the Ohio <br />Senate. <br />SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take eff tat the earliest time <br />allowed by law. ' <br />L LI M.
