10/15/90 <br />RESOLUTION N0. 90-67 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />DECLARING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 20 THROUGH <br />OCTOBER 28 AS GREATER CLEVELAND NATIONAL RED RIBBON <br />WEEK IN HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, IN ORDER TO <br />PROMOTE A DRUG FREE COMMUNITY <br />WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in every <br />community in American the week of October 20 - 28, 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, this is the third such campaign organized by the National <br />Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth to use the red ribbon as a symbol to <br />reduce the demand for drugs in our communities; and <br />WHEREAS, this National effort is chaired by President and Mrs. Bush who <br />are serving as National Honorary Chairpersons; and <br />WHEREAS, the Substance Abuse Initiative of Greater Cleveland is acting as <br />the local coordinator for the 1990 Greater Cleveland Red Ribbon campaign; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio effort is spearheaded by Honorary Chairpersons Governor <br />and Mrs. Celeste and Luceille Fleming, Director of the Department of Alcohol <br />and Drug Addiction Services; and <br />WHEREAS, the purposes and goals of both the National and Local Red Ribbon <br />Campaigns is to create awareness about the drug problems facing every Communi- <br />ty; to establish effective parent/community teams across America; to address <br />and combat the drug problem facing all of us; and to support drug-free, <br />healthy lifestyles; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council hereby declare the week of October 20 <br />through October 28, 1990 as Greater Cleveland National Red Ribbon week in <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio. <br />SECTION 2. As a sign of your support, we urge residents of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio, to wear red ribbon during Greater Cleveland National Red Ribbon <br />Week as a symbol to reduce the demand for drugs and to help create an aware- <br />ness that a serious drug problem does face every community and that it is <br />imperative that we, as a community, support and stand for, drug-free, healthy <br />lifestyles . <br />
