CARMEN
Mayor
January 28, 1991
Cuyahoga County Planning Commission
401 Euclid Avenue
Room 415
Cleveland, OH 44114
Attention: Mr. Paul Alsenas
Re: Cuyahoga County District Disposal Fees and
Planning Assessment Schedule to Prepare a Solid
Waste Management Plan for Cuyahoga County
Dear Mr. Alsenas:
The Village of Mayfield is not in favor of passing the legislation as currently written.
Village officials feel that consideration should be given to increase the out-of-state fee for
solid waste from $3.00 per ton to $6.00 per ton. This increase would discourage out-of--state solid
waste and save the available landfill capacity for use by Cuyahoga County residents.
Village officials recommend that the fee be based on tonnage or three (3) cubic yards
comprising one (1) ton. The higher of these two fees should be charged.
Perhaps a meeting to discuss the proposed legislation should be held soon. Please call us if
you would like schedule a meeting.
Very truly yours,
~A r~ r
Fred N. Carmen
Mayor
FNGdjh
