RESOLUTION NO. 91- 19 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />RECOGNIZING APRIL, 1991 AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH AND <br />AFFIRMING AND SUPPORTING THE CONSTITUTIONAL <br />RIGHTS OF ALL CITIZENS TO LIVE~WHERE THEY CHOOSE <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress has adopted a national <br />policy of promoting, within constitutional limitations, fair <br />housing throughout the country; and <br />WHEREAS, one of our nation's most cherished freedoms is the <br />right of all persons to live where they choose and can .afford, <br />without fear of persecution or intimidation because of their <br />race, color, religion, sex, ancestry, handicap or national <br />origin; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council further finds that the general welfare <br />and economic stability of the community benefit from a stable, <br />integrated community, including the benefits of interracial, <br />interreligious, and intercultural associations; and <br />WHEREAS, since the passage of the Federal Fair Housing Act <br />in April, 1968, the month of April has been designated for <br />commemoration of the fair housing law; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council recognize April, 1991 <br />as Fair Housing Month and supports the constitutional rights of <br />all citizens to live where they choose. <br />SECTION 2. The Mayor and Council affirm their commitment <br />to open housing and equal housing opportunity for all citizens <br />and assure the rights of every citizen to buy, rent, or sell <br />housing without regard to race, sex, color, religion, national <br />origin, handicap, or familial status, guaranteed by Title VIII of <br />the U.S. Civil Rights Act of 1968 as amended, and the laws of the <br />State of Ohio. <br />SECTION 3. Every agency of this government shall lend <br />full support to the prosecution of any acts of intimidation, <br />harassment, or violence designed to prevent the free exercise of <br />
