RESOLUTION NO. 91-75 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />PROTESTING THE UNREASONABLE WATER RATE <br />INCREASE AND REQUESTING THAT CLEVELAND CITY <br />COUNCIL RECONSIDER A MORE EQUITABLE <br />RATE REDISTRIBUTION BETWEEN SUBURBAN <br />AND CLEVELAND WATER USERS <br />WHEREAS, The Cleveland City Council has enacted a water <br />rate increase which has a direct effect upon all suburban water <br />users; and <br />WHEREAS, the net scheduled increase in water rates exceeds <br />50% of the present water rates paid by suburban water users; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Council of the Village of <br />Mayfield strongly protest the difference in rate application and <br />strongly urge the City of Cleveland to reconsider the water rates <br />in a more equitable and fair manner for all suburban users; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the Council of Mayfield <br />Village do hereby strongly protest the unequal water rate <br />increase imposed by the Council of the City of Cleveland and <br />strongly urge the City of Cleveland to reconsider the inequitable <br />and unfair charges to suburban water users and to enact a more <br />equitable water rate charge in line with the Cleveland water <br />uses. <br />SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council be, and hereby is, <br />directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Cuyahoga <br />County Mayors and Managers Association with a request to review <br />the Cleveland water rate hike for determination of any action <br />that may be appropriate to receive a more equitable rate change. <br />SECTION 3. That the Clerk of Council is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this <br />legislation to Michael R. White, Mayor of the Cit~r of cleveland. <br />Michael G.
