CED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />GRANTING AN ADDITIONAL VARIANCE TO THE <br />PROGRESSIVE INSIIRANCE COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRIICTION <br />OF ITS CORPORATE HEADQIIARTERS ON CERTAIN PROPER'i°Y <br />LOCATED AT 6300 WILSON MILLS ROAD <br />SUBJECT TO THE SATISFACTION OF CONDITIONS <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, Council has previously granted a five (5) foot <br />variance to Progressive Insurance Company for construction of <br />their corporate headquarters on certain property located at 6300 <br />Wilson Mills Road; and <br />WIIEREAS, Council, in order to minimize the impact of <br />surrounding residential areas, demanded several concessions from <br />Progressive Insurance Company that restricted the use of such <br />property; and <br />WHEREAS, Progressive Insurance Company is requesting an • <br />additional variance of 15 feet for the purpose of relocating <br />&^--adlitional staff from surrounding communities to such corporate <br />- Aeadquarters; and <br />WHEREAS, Council, after considering the site plan of said <br />property, is desirous of granting an additional variance to <br />Progressive Insurance on the condition that it locates i.ts <br />corporate headquarters at such site employing an excess of 1,000 <br />people; and <br />WHEREAS, to avoid unreasonable hardship to the property <br />owner, Council is desirous to grant such variance for purposes of <br />constructing its corporate headquarters at such property; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIE;LD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Progressive Insurance Company is hereby granted <br />a height variance of a total of twenty (20) feet (including the <br />previous five (5) feet granted) to Progressive Insurance Company <br />for the construction of its Corporate Headquarters on certain <br />property located at 6300 Wilson Mills Road. Such variance shall <br />be restricted to the office buildings located on the most <br />easterly portion of such property. The granting of such variance <br />is conditioned upon the location of its corporate headquarters <br />employing an excess of 1,000 people at such site.
