DRAFT Off-Street Parking and Loading NoveinberSe??enibe-r 1222, 2010 <br />Mayfield Village <br />Mayfield Village <br />I)RAFT Off-Street Parlcing and Loading <br />CHAPTER 1183 <br />1183.01 PURPOSES <br />Off-street parking and loading requirements and regulations are established in order to achieve, <br />among others, the following purposes: <br />(a) To relieve congestion on streets, so that they can be utilized more fully for movement of <br />traffic; and <br />(b) To promote the safety and convenience of employees, guests and shoppers by locating <br />parlcing areas so as to lessen motor vehicle movements in areas of congestion; and <br />(c) To promote the general convenience, welfare and prosperity of institutional, residential, retail <br />business and industrial developments, which depend upon off-street parking and off-street <br />loading facilities. Passed 9-8-75.) <br />1183.02 I)EFINITI OIOTS <br />For the purpose of determining accessory off-street parking requirements, definitions and <br />standards shall be as follows: <br />(a) "Accessory parking space" means an open or enclosed area accessible from a street for <br />parking of motor vehicles of owners, occupants, employees, customers or tenants of the main <br />building or use. Except for one and two-family dwellings, each space shall be not less than <br />nine and one-half feet wide and 190 square feet in area exclusive of all drives, curbs and <br />turning space. The number of spaces shall be determined from an accurate plan of the area. <br />In the event that the main building is used by one corporate entity, employing in excess of <br />1500 people at such site, then such space shall not be less than nine feet wide and 180 square <br />feet in area. Passed 11-13-91.) <br />(b) "Gross Ffloor area" means the total area of all the floors in a building measured from the <br />exterior faces of the building. <br />(c) "Seat" means the unit capacity of a building to accommodate people, and in a building <br />including group assembly, such as a church or auditorium, the unit of ineasurement shall be <br />seven square feet for the portion of the building utilized for seating accommodation. <br />(d) "Employees" means a unit of ineasurement representing the optimum employment capacity <br />of a business or other use at one time or shift. <br />(e) "Required minimum parking spaces" as computed, means where the computation results in a <br />fractional unit, one additional off-street parking space shall be provided. Passed <br />9-8-75.) <br />1183.03 OFF-STREET PARKING FACILITIES; WHEN 12EQUIREI) <br />Accessory off-street parking facilities, including access driveways, shall be determined in <br />conformance with the schedule, Section 1183.05, for the various institutional, residential, <br />business, office-laboratory and production-distribution buildings and uses, and provided in <br />conformance with the other provisions of this chapter as a condition precedent to the occupancy <br />and maintenance of such building or use. Facilities shall be provided for the entire building or <br />use and shall be located on the same lot as the main building or use served: <br />(a) Whenever a building is constructed or a new use established.
