Mar 14 03 02:39p Diemert & Associates (440)442-0825 p.2 ORDiNANCE NO. 2003- 09 1NTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH ANTHEM BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD AS AND FOR THE RENEWAL OF EMPLOYEE HEALTH CARE AND HOSPITALIZATfON BENEFITS, INCLUDING LlFE INSURANCE AND AD&D BENEFITS WHEREAS, the current health care and hospitalization insurance has expired as of April 1, 2003; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Finance Committee of Council that this legislation be passed to renew empioyee health care and hospitalization benefits, including life insurance and AD&D benefits. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Director of Finance are hereby and herein authorized and directed to enter into a health care and hospitalization policy for ernployees, including life insurance and AD&D benefits of the Vi(lage with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield pursuant to the rates attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption ofthis Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121,22 of the Ohio Revised Code, SECTION 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village, Ohio, and for the further reasons set forth in the preamble hereof.
