I -'t. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2003-33 (AS AMENDED) <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THAT A PORTION. <br />OF THE FUNDS COLLECTED FROM AREA BUSINESSES <br />IN THE DAYS AFTER THE HORRIFIC EVENTS OF <br />SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 BE ALLOCATED TO INITIATE THE PURCHASE OF <br />A SURREY FIRE SAFETY HOUSE AND INVITING ALL COMMUNITIES WITHIN THE <br />MAYFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT TO JOIN IN THE PURCHASE <br />WHEREAS, the Village in the days following the horrific events of September 11, <br />2001 received funds from area businesses; and <br />WHEREAS, Village Council finds it in the best interest of Village residents to use a <br />portion of such funds to initiate the purchase of a Surrey Fire Safety House to be used in <br />teaching children throughout the Mayfield School District about fire prevention and home <br />safety practices; and <br />WHEREAS, Village Council invites all communities within the Mayfield School <br />District, to join the Village in the purchase of this vehicle. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Council authorizes and directs that a portion of the funds collected <br />in the days following the horrific events of September 11, 2001, in an amount not to exceed <br />$9000.00, be used to initiate the purchase of a Surrey Fire Safety House to be used as an <br />invaluable tool in teaching children throughout the Mayfield School District about fire <br />prevention and home safety practices. <br />SECTION 2. The Council further invites all communities within the Mayfield School <br />District to join the Village in the purchase of this vehicle. <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council <br />relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; <br />and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, <br />took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements <br />including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 4. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio. It shall, therefore, take effect immediately upon the passage by the <br />affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members elected to Council and approval by the <br />) Mayor or otherwise at the earliest time allowed by law.
