A 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2001- 24 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1333 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES RELATIVE TO THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has made certain recommendations for adoption of the 2002 National Electric Code, and eliminating redundant or unnecessary sections previously existing. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. That Chapter 1333 of the Codified Ordinances is hereby and herein amended to read as follows: 1333.01 ADOPTION: ENFORCEMENT. (a) There is hereby adopted as the Electrical Code of Mayfield Village the 1-996 2002 Edition of the National Fire Protection Association N.F.P.A.-70 National Electric Code. (b) The National Electric Code shall be enforced by the Building Commissioner and the Electrical Safety Inspector. SECTION 2. That previously existing Section 1333.01 is hereby and herein repealed in its entirety. SECTION 3. This Ordinance and the new Code shall be effective January 1, 2002. SECTION 4. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. SECTION 5. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village, Ohio, and for the further reasons set forth in the preamble hereof. It shall, therefore, take effect immediately upon the passage by the affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members elected to Council and approval by the Mayor or otherwise at the earliest time allowed by law.
