el <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 21 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Stephan Parker <br />A RESOLUTION <br />IMPLORING THE OHIO STATE ASSEMBLY <br />TO IMPOSE MANDATORY DEREGULATION GUIDELINES <br />AGAINST NATURAL GAS COMPANIES IN THE STATE OF OHIO <br />WHEREAS, the State Legislature has adopted and imposed certain guidelines for <br />the deregulation of electrical companies, allowing for electrical aggregation by individual <br />communities throughout the State of Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, similar such legislation has not been provided for natural gas <br />companies, allowing them to self-regulate in a manner which is confusing and misleading <br />to the general public by providing benefits to only initial applicants, while withholding such <br />benefits to the majority of natural gas users; and <br />WHEREAS, the facade used by the natural gas companies is unfair to the general <br />public, and requires the involvement of the State Legislature to impose mandatory <br />guidelines for the fairness and protection of the citizens in this State. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Council of the Village of Mayfield does hereby and herein <br />implore the Ohio State General Assembly to adopt and impose guidelines for the <br />deregulation of natural gas companies, in a fashion comparable to that provided for the <br />deregulation of electric companies, and that same be done immediately for the protection <br />of the citizens in the State of Ohio. <br />SECTION 2.
