R E S O L U T IO N N O. 2 0 01- 0 S <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />A ResoCution e.xtencfing CondoCences and Wonetary Support <br />for the victims, their famiCies and tFie rescue workers <br />affected 6y the Septem6er 11th teyrorist attackonAmerica. <br />WHEREAS, on Tuesday, September 11 `h, 2001, American citizens who were engaged in <br />their daily routine of living their lives within the borders of their nation were brutally murdered <br />with premeditation by soldiers of hate, who hijacked the tools of peacetime commerce and <br />cruelly turned them into terrible weapons of war; and <br />WHEREAS, even ftom the early moments the terrorists began executing plans of <br />unspeakable evil, a series of surprise attacks inflicted on an unsuspecting and innocent public, <br />our fellow citizens responded-on the hijacked planes in the aiY, in the stricken buildings in <br />New York City and Washington D. C., and on the ground so far below; and <br />"EREAS, ordinary people, militaYy professionals, trained and dedicated fire and <br />safety personnel and many more whose names and whose acts of courage?we will never know, <br />were called to act, dYativn terribly, swiftly and irrevocably into a cataclysfn which we cannot <br />truly fathom; and <br />WHEREAS, the numerous victims and their loved ones are suffering the results of the <br />worst act of terrorism in our nation's history and deser-ve our aid and comfort; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intention of Mayfield Village to express the sincere condolences <br />and sympathy of our community to the victims, their families and loved ones, and to the selfless <br />rescue workeYS, who heroically performed their jobs--as none of us can imagine--in responding <br />to this horrible tragedy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT dZESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. That the Mayor, his administration and the Council of the Village of Mayfield, on behalf of Village <br />residents and businesses, do hereby and herein proclaim their heartfelt sympathy and support to the families of those <br />victims of the September I1 `J" attack. <br />Section 2. The Mayor, his administration and Council do further indicate theiY support and encouragement to all <br />of these people as they begin the difficult task of restoring their lives and their cities, by establishing a special fund <br />account for the relief and szapport of those forever affected by this devastating act, and depositing from the General <br />Funds of Mayfield Village into said account no less than $10, 000, and do further allocate up to $25, 000 in matching <br />other contributions to the ficnd.
