LLY, <br />RESOLUTION 2001-08 <br />1" ? <br />? I <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bruce G. Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION TO <br />VINCE J. BUSA <br />WFIEREAS, Mr. Busa has been a dedicated public servant his entire life; and <br />WHEREAS, during World War II, Mr. Busa proudly served his country as a Procurement <br />Officer and Major in the United States Air Force; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Busa served the Department of Defense for 41 years as a Federal <br />Agent-Supervisor; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Busa has been an active member and Commander of V.F.W. Post #937 for <br />many yeazs; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Busa started the Lee Land Heights Civic Council with the assistance of <br />several neighbors of Lotus Drive, served as President of the Organization for 8 years ancl through <br />the Civic Club helped many poor people and also held fund raisers to buy gifts for the patients at <br />the Mental Hospital; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1956 during the Revolution in Hungary, Mr. Busa was a member of the <br />Hungarian Lutheran Church and helped sponsor many families to come to the United States; <br />thereafter Mr. Busa found many of them jobs and homes or apartments; many stayed with the <br />Busa family until they could be on their own; <br />WHEREAS, ?Mr. Busa was active in Civil Defense in Cleveland and there is a street in <br />Cleveland named "Busa Oval° in honor of his many civic accomplishments; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Busa first stepped into Politics when the Busa family moved to Mayfield <br />Village in the eazly 1960's and Mr. Busa became very active in the Mayfield Civic League; and <br />WHEREAS, what Mr. Busa loved most was being President of the Boazd for the Julie Billiart <br />School for the Leaming Disabled where he was involved for many years and accomplished many <br />good things for the good Sisters and the School; and to this day the Busa family remains good <br />friends with the nuns from the Julie Billiart School for the learning disabled; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Busa diligently served Mayfield Village in many capacities for over three <br />decades as: <br />. Mayor: 1968-1971; <br />. A Member of Council for over 20 years at times serving as Council President <br />and President Pro Tempore; <br />• A member of the origirial Charter Commission in 1972 and the Charter <br />Review Commission in 1986; and <br />. A member of the Civil Service Commission. <br />WHEREAS, during his public service, Mr. Busa was involved in and saw Mayfield Village <br />continue its progress as one of the premier communities in Cuyahoga County, while maintaining its <br />stature as a Village of less than 5,000 citizens; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCII. OF MAYFIELD VII.LAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Vince J. Busa be and is hereby recogaized for his <br />devoted service to Mayfield Village aad his country. <br />Section 1. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate <br />original copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Vince J. Busa. The other <br />original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Mr. Busa. <br />Section 2.
