<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2000-22 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE III, <br />SECTION 4 OF THE CHARTER OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE <br />REQUIRING A COUNCIL CANDIDATE TO HAVE TWO <br />CONTINUOUS YEARS OF RESIDENCY AND AS AN ELECTOR <br />PRIOR TO HIS OR HER ELECTION <br />OR APPOINTMENT TO COUNCIL <br />WHEREAS, Article XI of the Village Charter provides for a Charter Review <br />Commission every five years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission has recommended to Council the <br />amendment as hereinafter stated. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That Article III, Section 4 of the Charter of the Village of Mayfield, is <br />hereby and herein amended to read as follows: <br />ARTICLE I11 <br />THE COUNCIL <br />SECTION ~ 3. QUALIFICATIONS. <br />Each member of Council shall have physically resided and been a qualified elector <br />of the Municipality for at least #f~r-eef3~ two 2 continuous years immediately prior <br />to his election or appointment, and shall continue to physically reside and be a <br />qualified elector throughout his term of office. A member of Council shall not hold <br />any other elected public office or other employment with Mayfield Village: p <br />.Any member of Council who <br />shall cease to possess any of the qualifications enumerated herein shall forfeit his <br />office, but failure to maintain such qualifications shall not render void or ineffective <br />any action of the Council in which such member has participated. In addition to the <br />foregoing qualifications, no person shall be eligible to serve as a member of Council <br />from a ward unless such person has, for at least one (1) continuous year <br />immediately prior to either his election or appointment, physically resided in the ward <br />to be represented and during such term of office shall continue to physically reside <br />in that same ward. <br />~~, <br />
