ORDINANCE NO. 2000-24 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE.XI, <br />OF THE CHARTER OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE <br />PERTAINING TO PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANTS <br />FOR THE CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION <br />WHEREAS, Article XI of the Village Charter provides for a Charter Review <br />Commission every five years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission has recommended to Council the <br />amendment as hereinafter stated. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That Article XI of the Charter of the Village of Mayfield, is hereby and <br />herein amended to read as follows: <br />ARTICLE XI <br />- CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION <br />~ ~~ <br />~ ~. <br />ARTICLE XI CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION <br />In January, 1995, and each five years thereafter, the Mayor and each member of <br />Council shall appoint one elector each (for a total of 8), who shall be electors of the <br />Municipality holding no other elective office, in the government of the Municipality, <br />as members of the Charter Review Commission. Such commission shall review the <br />Charter, and within five calendar months after such appointment, shall have a review <br />session with the Mayor and Council and then recommend to the voters such <br />amendments, if any, to this Charter, as in its judgment are desirable, The Council <br />shall submit to the electors not later than the next succeeding general election any <br />such proposed amendments. The members appointed to said Commission shall <br />serve without compensation. Meetings of the Charter Review Commission shall be <br />open to the public. <br />A complete text of all proposed amendments submitted to the electors shall be <br />delivered to the residents of the Village. However, random failure of such delivery <br />will not cause invalidation of any amendment by the voters. <br />Should a majority of the Commissioners appointed determine that the services of <br />a professional consultant are required fortheir review of the Charter, they may retain <br />such services and the reasonable costs thereof shall be paid by the Village. <br />l~ ~`~ <br />
