Liggett was sworn in as a Patrolman on May 1? 1973;and <br />WHEREAS, Patrolman Liggett received his initial assignment to the Detective Bureau in January, 1981; and <br />WHEREAS, Detective Liggett was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 5'h 1989; and <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Liggett completed an extensive screening process and background check and was <br />approved to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia-attendance at which is limited to less <br />than 1% of the nation's law enforcement officers ; and <br />R'HEREAS, Sergeant Liggett, after eleven grueling weeks, graduated from Quantico's 177h Session receiving <br />his Diploma from the Director of the FBI in June of 1994 having maintained excellent grades throughout the course of <br />studies; and <br />R'HEREAS, Sergeant Liggett was promoted to the position of Lieutenant on July 14, 1996; and <br />WHEREAS, During Lieutenant LiggetYs 26 years of service to the Mayfield Village Police Department, he has <br />received numerous letters of appreciation from the citizens he has served and letters of commendation from supervisors; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Lieutenant Liggett has always been known for his friendliness and the respect with which he treats <br />everyone he encounters; and <br />R'HEREAS, Lieutenant Liggett has announced his retirement and despite the Village's best efforts to persuade <br />him to stay will be leaving Mayfield Village this month and will be sorely missed for a myriad of reasons; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves and the residents of the <br />Municipality hereby express their sincere appreciation to Lieutenant David M. Liggett for twenty-six years of dedicated <br />service to the Village as Patrolman, Sergeant and Lieutenant on the Mayfield Village Police Department and hereby <br />congratulate him upon his retirement from the force and the Village. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate original copies of this <br />Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Lieutenant David M. Liggett. The other original shall be placed in the <br />permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Lieutenant David M. Liggett. <br />SecNon 3. This resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council and signature of the Mayor, or as <br />otherwise be provided for in law. <br />RESOLUTIONADOPTED: May 3, 1999
