V0 "?ww, e'w- <br />WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dave Mohr and Police Chief Don Stevens coordinated a Pre- <br />Prom N[ock Crash Safety Program for all junior and senior students at Mayfield High School <br />which was held on Monday, May 3,1999; and <br />WHL'1ZEAS, Gates Mills, Highland Heights, Mayfield Hezghts, the Ohio State Patrol, <br />doctors and nurses from Hilicrest Hospital and the Cuyahoga County Coroner joined Mayfield <br />Village in cond.ucting this safety program which involved the staging of a fowr-person car crash <br />illustxating the dangers of drinking and driving; and <br />KWEREAS, during this traumatic true-to-life simulation, one victim "died" at the scene <br />(in a prom dress) and was taken away by the Cuyahoga County Coroner; <br />HWEREAS, thaee others were trapped inside the car requfring emergency rescue. <br />personnel ta use the Jaws of Life to "rescue" them and take them away by ambulance following <br />emergency proceduxes as if it were a xeal accident; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield High School principal Robert Lombardo, Prevention Coordinator <br />Kristie Fleck and Assistant Principals Candice Hazelwood and Charles Walukas appreciate the <br />expertise of our professionals and all who assisted in this program and have further asked us to <br />recognize Chief Stevens and Chaef Mohr for their efforts in coordinating this safety program; <br />and <br />NOiW, THEdZEFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE COITNCIL OF 1!2'A YFIEL I3 <br />VILLAGE, O.gllO, THAT <br />Mayfield Village is proud and honored to extend its sincere appreciation and thanks to <br />Chaef Donald Stevens and Chie# David Mohr for supporting the prevention of alcohol, drug and <br />tobacco use in the school and in the community. Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves and the <br />residents of the Municipaiity hereby express their appreciation and thanks to Poiice Chief Don Stevens <br />and Fire Chief David Mohr for coordinating the Pre-Prom Mock Crash Safety Program." <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare triplicate original <br />copies of this Resolution. One such originai shall be presented to Chief Stevens; vne such original shall be <br />presented to Chief Mohr, The third original shall be piaced Tn the permanent records of the Village. <br />Section 3. 7'hfs resolution shail become effective upon its adoption by Council and signature of <br />the Mayor, or as otherwise be provided for in law. <br />• RESOLUTION .ADOPTED: May 1719!
