ORDINANCE NO. 99- 05 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE' <br />CREATING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />AND THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />PARKS AND RECREATION, AND AMENDING CHAPTER 143 <br />OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority of Article V, Section 1, of the Charter of the <br />Village of Mayfield, the Council is establishing a new department to be called the <br />Department of Parks and Recreation, and in conjunction therewith, desires to amend the <br />current Chapter 143 relative to the Recreation Board. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That there is hereby and herein created Chapter 142 of the Codified <br />Ordinances to be known as the "Department of Parks and Recreation" which will read as <br />follows: <br />CHAPTER 142 <br />A--- <br />- DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />142.01 DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />There shall be, and there hereby is, a Department of Parks and Recreation <br />which shall include the Director and such other employees as Council shall provide. Such <br />employee shall work under the general supervision of the Director and shall be appointed <br />by the Mayor, with confirmation by the majority of the members elected to Council. <br />142.02 DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />(a) There shall be, and there is hereby created, the position of Director <br />of Parks and Recreation, who shall be the head of the Parks and <br />Recreation Department, and shall serve under the general <br />supervision of the Mayor, on the advice of the Parks and Recreation <br />Board, and subject to confirmation of the majority of the members <br />elected to Council. <br />(b) The Director of Parks and Recreation shall have knowledge of <br />municipal park and recreation operations, budgetary and supervision <br />skills.
