131.05 HUMAN SERVICES DIRECTOR. (a) Commencing with the effective date of this section, there is hereby established the position of Human Services Director. (b) The Director shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the concurrence of a majority of the members elected to Council. The Director shall be a resident of the Municipality not holding other elected office. The Director first appointed under this section shall serve until December 31, 1986, and thereafter a Director shall be appointed in January of each year to serve through December 31 of the year of appointment. In the event the duly appointed Director is unable, for any reason, to complete the term of office, the Mayor shall appoint a successor in the same manner required for original appointment, such successor to complete the annual term with the compensation for the position to be apportioned on a pro rata basis. (c) The Human Services Director shall be paid a salary of eleven thousand three hundred fifty-six dollars and eighty cents ($11,356.80) per annum, for a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week. The Human Services Director shall be a part-time position and such person shall not be eligible for employment benefits accorded to full-time employees of Mayfield Village. (Ord. 97-04. (d) The Director shall be responsible for conducting and coordinating the following activities within the Municipality: (1) Distribution of surplus government food; (2) Activities of the Commission on Aging; (3) Flu shot program; (4) Acquisition of State and federal funds; (5) Assist senior citizens in the preparation and filing of income tax returns; (6) Bi-monthly card group; '(7) Bi-monthly craft group; (8) Early Spring/late Fall boccie; (9) Blood pressure checks, once per month; (10) Christmas party; (11) Anniversary party; (12) Picnics in the park; (13) Bus trips (four to five annually); (14) Field trips; (15) Daytime programs throughout the year including travelogue, garden group and police and fire safety; (16) Newsletter; (17) Articles for Voice of the Village; (18) Individual services for seniors; (19) Thrift shopping for goods and supplies for senior citizens; (20) Craft boutique (one annually); (21) Real estate tax fiche machines at flu shot program; (22) Monthly luncheon trips; and (23) Arrange cooperative activities with other communities. In addition to the foregoing the Director shall be responsible for such other duties as may be directed by the Mayor from time-to-time. (Ord. 85-25. Passed 1-20-86.) 1998 Replacement
