~sLC[uLCCo[n <br />Resolution 1lTo. 9&21 entitled, <br />'"A RESOLIJTION OF COMMENIDATIO~i <br />TO THE HAYFIELD FIIGH[ SCHOOL WILDCATS F®OTBALL TEAM <br />IN HONOR OF ITS OLJTSTANI)ING 199 SEA.S~OI\T." <br />Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield High School Wildcats Football Team had a regular season record of nine wins <br />and only one loss, earning the Western Reserve Conference Championship crown; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield High Sc)zool Wildcats Football Yearn, by virtue of its outstanding record earned <br />a berth in the playoffs far the fizst time since 1984; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield High School Wildcats Football Team captured the Regional Championship <br />crown, defeating Barberton and Midview in the playoffs, and advanced to the Ohio State <br />Division II Championship Semi-finals for only the second time in school history; and <br />WHEREAS, Coach Larry Pinto has been named the Western Reserve Conference Coach of the Year; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Nick Palazzo has been named Western Reserve Player of the Year; Mike Piccirillo, Dalvin <br />HiII, Nick Delguyd, Derek Bell and Ryan Breeden have been named to the Western Reserve <br />Conference First Team; Mark Belfiore, Ryan Iammarino and John Savage have been named to <br />the Western Reserve Conference Second Team; and, Anthony Grasso and Chad Zimmerman <br />received Western Reserve Conference Honorable Mention; and <br />WHEREAS, the 1998 Mayfield High School Wildcat Football players, coaches, staff, trainers and <br />volunteers have been a source of inspiration and pride for the students, teachers and staff of <br />the Mayfield City School System and turned the 4 communities of Mayfield Village, Mayfield <br />Heights, Highland Heights and Gates Milts into one big Wildcat Pride for a glowing Fall <br />season. <br />NOW, TI-iEREF®RE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayfield Village Council hereby congratulates and <br />heartily commends the 1998 Mayfield High School Wildcats Football Team for its championship <br />season; a Team in the truest sense. <br />Section 1. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to maintain one original on <br />file as a permanent record of the team's achievement. The Clerk is further to prepaxe duplicate <br />original copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to each member of the Mayfield <br />High School Wildcats Football Tearn: <br />Section 2.
