ORDINANCE. NO. 2017-02 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bodnar and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF SHANE MCAVINEW AS THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO WHEREAS, Shane McAvinew possesses the requisite knowledge of municipal park and recreation operations, budgetary and supervision skills for the position of Director of Parks and Recreation. WHEREAS, the Mayor has appointed Shane McAvinew as the Director of Parks and Recreation for Mayfield Village, Ohio, pursuant to Article 5, Section 3(A) of the Village's Charter; and WHEREAS, Council deems it necessary and in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of all Village residents to confirm this appointment, effective January 25, 2017, and establish the terms, conditions and compensation thereof; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, County of Cuyahoga, State of Ohio: SECTION 1. That the appointment of Shane McAvinew as Director of Parks and Recreation for Mayfield Village, Ohio, is hereby confirmed subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter established. SECTION 2. As Director of Parks and Recreation of Mayfield Village, Ohio, Shane McAvinew shall be the head of the Parks and Recreation Deparhnent pursuant to Charter Article 5, Section 3, and shall serve under the general supervision of the Mayor, and shall manage, conduct, and supervise all operations of municipal parks and recreation areas and facilities. SECTION 3. Upon the effective date of this appointment and confirmation by Council, Shane McAvinew shall be entitled compensation at starting annual salary of $86,856.00 for all services rendered to the Village in his capacity as Director of Parks and Recreation, along with four weeks' vacation per year with increases thereto and other benefits pursuant to the Villages Wage Ordinance. SECTION 4. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
