ORDINANCE NO. 2017-04 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE CREATING CHAPTER 1505 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES MANDATING AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS IN CERTAIN INSTITUTIONAL FACILITIES AND AMENDING THE TITLE OF PART FIFTEEN OF THE CODIFIED. ORDINANCES TO BE KNOWN AS THE "FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY CODE" WHEREAS, there are existing facilities and institutions, as well as property owners interested in developing institutional facilities such as nursing homes, assisted care living opportunities, and schools, who could benefit and save lives with the installation of AED's in their facilities; and WHEREAS, automatic external defibrillators (AED's) are now economical, and readily available, easily administered, and the minutes saved before fire/rescue personnel can arrive could mean the difference between life and death; and WHEREAS, the Mayfield Village Fire Department intends to provide all institutional facilities who request it with a CPR/AED training program to facilitate the implementation of this law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, County of Cuyahoga, State of Ohio: SECTION 1. That new Chapter 1505; establishing the AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR REQUIRED, as set forth in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, is hereby adopted. . SECTION 2. The title of PART FIFTEEN, currently referred to as "Fire Prevention Code" is hereby and herein amended to read "FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY CODE". SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
