ORDINANCE NO. 2017-04 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />CREATING CHAPTER 1505 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES <br />MANDATING AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS <br />IN CERTAIN INSTITUTIONAL FACILITIES <br />AND AMENDING THE TITLE OF PART FIFTEEN <br />OF THE CODIFIED. ORDINANCES TO BE KNOWN AS THE <br />"FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY CODE" <br />WHEREAS, there are existing facilities and institutions, as well as property owners <br />interested in developing institutional facilities such as nursing homes, assisted care living <br />opportunities, and schools, who could benefit and save lives with the installation of AED's in <br />their facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, automatic external defibrillators (AED's) are now economical, and readily <br />available, easily administered, and the minutes saved before fire/rescue personnel can arrive <br />could mean the difference between life and death; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield Village Fire Department intends to provide all institutional <br />facilities who request it with a CPR/AED training program to facilitate the implementation of <br />this law. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, <br />County of Cuyahoga, State of Ohio: <br />SECTION 1. That new Chapter 1505; establishing the AUTOMATED EXTERNAL <br />DEFIBRILLATOR REQUIRED, as set forth in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorporated <br />herein by reference, is hereby adopted. . <br />SECTION 2. The title of PART FIFTEEN, currently referred to as "Fire Prevention <br />Code" is hereby and herein amended to read "FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY <br />CODE". <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council <br />relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and <br />that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took <br />place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />
