It recomn.ended that the appoint- <br />ment of such a policeman be decided upon and the appointment made at couu- <br />cx1 meeting xn September. Ivla.yor,Swanson then read to Council the notice <br />that was to be placed in the papers for tvro suceessive weeks a,nd posted <br />on all tkie vi118.ge notice boards. He also stated that two applications <br />had been received for this position. <br />Mx°. Alfred Goetz then asked the Council to consider his <br />resignation as Chief of Police and that he be considerad on a leave of <br />absence for a period of 5 years pursuarrt to Secm 486-65A General Code. <br />Ms', Goetz also resigned fa°om kiis position as Road Counniss5.oner. It was <br />moved by Ivir. Sloan, seconded by Mrra Hardman, that the resa.gnata.on of b4r. <br />Alfred Goetz as Chief of Po7.ice and 8oad Commissxoner, to ta,ke eff'ect upon <br />appointYnent oi' his successor xn each case, be aecepted wa.th regret; that <br />t he thanks of t he Council and t he Village be tendered.to him for his <br />exceller_t services rendered a.n the past; and that llis resignatiou as <br />Chief of Police be considered as a leave of absence for a poraod af f'ive <br />years fbr the purpose of the Stato.
