Mayor Endr.ess th.en expressed his thanks to Mr. Plastine and the <br />Police Department ancl asked the Clerk to z,rrite a letter expressing the thanks <br />of Cotuacil, which coula be shown to the other people involved in thzs enterprise. <br />Mayar Endress then saici that he would like Council to think abnut <br />increasing the minimum area o?' houses to 1000 feet as we migh-L• be under pressure <br />in putting in houses on a minimum basis; that:most of the houses being erected <br />in our village were from 14 to 15 hundred square feet. <br />Due to the recent scarm, there was a report that some damage had been <br />sustained on the paving being done on Seneca Roacl. As triere was no bondirig <br />on the shoulders of the road, it was feared that there wauld be some under- <br />cutting in the everlt of any more heavy rains. Mayar Endress said that he had <br />con.tacted Mr. Edwards of Ohio PaTring, who recommended that the road be given <br />a shot of asphalt which could save -the shoulders. This would cost about <br />$250.00, <br />Mrn Zorn said that he thought this shauld be done by the contractor. <br />There was a great deal of discvssion in Council about triese roads, wi-Lh various <br />theories and materials suggested with the rela-t,ive merit of each. Mrm Hopkirgs <br />said that the old conunittee should go over the road before any shooting was done. <br />Mayar Endress said that he would get ahoZd of Mr. Peterson the first thing in <br />the morning. Mro Groategoed said that our engineer should be the one to <br />inspec 'u this road an.d, if there was any danger, to tel_I us what to do a <br />Mayor Endress again..mentioned that the contractors were in process <br />of lay-7.ng down the road and we could not very well complain befbre they were <br />f inishec? . <br />Mr. Wed1er then reported that the drain a-t Wort,on Park and Wilsan <br />Nil1s zaas brokeri and might cave in; thai:, we should get same hot mix and fix <br />it befarE it became dangerous. <br />The Clerk then reported tha-t Mre 'Glieland was having difficulty in <br />getting leaks and breaks in the water system taken care of and as we had a <br />contract with the city, something should be done. Mayor Endress said that Mr. <br />Wieland should make a note of the places in question and give to Mr. Edelman <br />to take care of. <br />Mr. Zorn then reported -tha-t a street light should be installed on <br />SOPZ Road near the Wiesberg barn., and spoke of the fact t,hat it was dangerous <br />for Mrs. Smitli wrio camP.home late to walk._ dowri this part of the raad. Mayor <br />Endress said that this should be turned over to the Safety Committee and a <br />surve3r of the lighting situation be macle. <br />. Mr. Hopkins then expressed dissatisfaction with the teffiporary sidewalk constructed by the service departmen'c along SOM Road to Thornapple. Mr. Hopkins said that it was impossible to walk in the aggregate used on this <br />path. Mayor Endress said that this t,roulo have a top dressing9 but' due to <br />the steel stri_ke, no slag zaas avaiiable and i-t was imposszble to do anything <br />at the present time. <br />4.
