Patrolman <br /> Mr. Falk then repoxted that a man had complained that l-ie lived on <br /> Robley Lane and could not get in or out of his house and wi.shed to know what <br /> could be done. Mra Falk then read our platting ordinance and council entered <br /> into a discussion with ous° Engineer on what does and what does not constitute <br /> a temporary pavement as called for 3n this ordsnance. Nr. Clarence Piccardy <br /> the man in question, then gave a sad tale of his troubl.es on the Robl,ey Lane <br /> Development, saying that he had a 5 year old girl who could not go to school <br /> and that he had to walk from SOM Road and carry a1l suppZi.es 3nto the place <br /> because of the condition of the street. Council felt that no permi.ts should <br /> have been given in this axea and certainly none iri the futur°e until things <br /> were rectified and asked our Service Disector to disconti.nue issuing permits <br /> in Robley Lane until things were put in shape. MS°o vunbar was also asked <br /> to ha.ve a steam roller b].ockin,g the road removed. - <br />A delogation from Thornapple Drive then asked to Ua heard ancl <br />objected strenuous].y to an order raquesting that al.]e ditches be opened and. <br />asked if this order applied only to 2'hornapple, lqr. Falk then read tlze minutes <br />of the SEptember meeting which stated tha.t a committee had investigated the <br />road and found that the ditches must be kept open to keep the road in shape. <br />The Delega-tion said tha.t they had IVIr. Fisher4 s pex•mission to close these <br />clitches and, If forced to open them, would have costly pipe on hand and they <br />thougnt that the situation was very aggravata.n.g. <br />Mayor Endress sutruned up the situation by saying that o-ur orclin.ance said <br />that dj:tches must Ue open ancl that was all cotmcil could do about the matter. <br />As thsse people.seemed to still be havang troub].e in getting their <br />children on schoo7, busses, the subject of sidewalks was again brought up. <br />Mr..Strater sai.d that this bore out his contention that sidewalks should be a <br />must_in new developments and that eventually we V,rould have-them throughout <br />the viltiage. <br />The Finance Comtnittee having approved the pay ordanance, it was <br />moved by Mr. Taylor., sec onded by Mr. Strater, that Pa,y 4rc13siance No. 401-P be <br />approved and passed as r.ead. <br />Ro1.1 Ca11a Ayes - Messrs Taylor,Wedler,Strater,Brown,Falk & Hopkins. <br />_ Nays - None. <br />Motion earriecl <br />Pay arclinance Passed <br />9•
