Mo-Fa.on carz-i.ed <br />Rix7.es Suspended <br />` It was moved by Mrs. Brat.m' seconded by Mr. Taylor, that Ordinance <br />No. 589,^be approved and passed as r°eads <br />Ro1.1. Callm Ayes - Nessrs Tayl.or2Wedler'Strater.,Bx°own.Falk &-Hopkinso <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion carrzed <br />Ordinance Passed <br />Council then entered into a discusslon of the Asiatic Flu and Mro <br />Hopkin"s suggested -that our Police and Service Department be given these shots. <br />MrQ TWlor said tha-t this should not be forced onto the Police Departanent. <br />Mr. Edelman s aid that, if it could be done, i-t'would be a good idea to set <br />up a station in the Town Hall. This matter was then turned over to the <br />Welfare Committee. <br />The Finance Committee havinff approved the Pay ardinance' it was <br />moved by Mr. Ta?rlo?°, seconded by M^o Strater, tha-? Motion carried <br />Pay Ordi.nance Passed <br />A Representative from the Communi-uy Club then asked Council abouic <br />the possibility of getting a sidewalk on one side of uhe street on Wilson <br />Mills and SOM Center to cover the full length of the Vi13.age so that chilclren <br />coul.d walk to schoolm There was a great deal of discussion of this matter° <br />together k7ith probabl.e costs and the fact that our debt limit prevented us <br />fx°om embarking on any major program of this sox°te Mayor Endress wen-t on <br />to speak of the importance of passing ouz° Bond Tssue so that some of these <br />-things could be considered in a limited taay, but said that a-t present we <br />cou7.d do no-thing, and nothing couJd be done in tYle future withnut the people <br />approving a raise in oux° debt 1.imit. Some discussion was then had on the <br />subject of school buses picking up children and the fact that children picked <br />up on Wilson Mi1.Is East of SOM were taken -to the Gates Mi11.s School instead <br />of the Center School. Mr. Strater again spoke of his meeting with the <br />Schoo7. Board and the fact that according to law chi.ldren T,ithin two mi.l.es <br />of the school were supposed to walko Mr. Hopkins spoke of his check of the <br />area and saicl that at no tim.e did he see ariy evi.dence of° the school bus <br />passing chi.ldren tRrithout pickking them up. <br />Mr, Nydecker9 a resident of Wilson MiI1s, then asked what action <br />should be taken -to build a slag sidewalk on Wi2son Mi]..1.s Road ps°ovided <br />residents paid for tkie cost of such a sidewalke Council said that they had <br />no objections to this project provided proper-ty owners were in favor of doing <br />it, <br />7a
