There was nothing to report fr.om the Welfare Comn3ttee. <br />Mr. Falk, reporting for the Planning and Zon3.ng Coaanission., said that <br />theg llad their f3rst meeta.ng since June 24.,- 195?, and had corisidered a--request fracan the Protestant Episcopal C'hurch to build on a 22 acre parcel <br />north of the Danner property. , 2'here was no :wat,er .or sewer on this propericsrp <br />^tru.t all other requirements could easily be met,such-as approval by,the <br />ChurchFederat3.on etc. Theg were told, howe'ver, that they could get wat=ecx° <br />if they Ynet a11 the state required stand.ards. Mr. Strater, reporting for the safety and Service Comaittee, said <br />that the old'tanker had been sold for $175.00.and the Comanittee had a <br />request from Tse Fire Departrnent to keep the' mozLey far. I equipment. .. Mr.'-- <br />Strater brought out the fact that this moneg had been taken 3.nto consider- <br />ation in purchasi.ng the new truck. Mr. Edelman said that th3.s could not <br />be turned over °to the Fire Department, but could be budgeted for equipment, <br />if Council wishecl. , - . <br />Mr. Strater then reported on a discussion over the trcyubles <br />experienced with c ontractors leaving open ditches at the close of work <br />without f1.ares or barricades and the inability of.our Service Department <br />to get any cooperation either from the contractorsa or the bonding companies., <br />and they wislied that these bonds ema3.d be in cash so that the Serffice <br />Departament could put up barricades arii flares and use the money for ti13s <br />purpose. Mr. Edelmari was asked to check with other vi.Ltages to see if a <br />specific orciinancewas used for this purpose, or whether,trie_other <br />municipalities provided a cash bobd for the purpose. It was the op3nion" <br />of the Cmmnittee that there was sufficient power in our present ord.inance <br />to take care of 'this arxi an example should he made to keep c ontractors in <br />line.. . Mr.Strater reported that our Fire Departinent was having a ten hour <br />Fire School., wh3ch wauld cost six#,y dollars, batt, with,Chesterlancl coming <br />in, this would be -reiiuced . to $300*00, arir3. due to 'the fact that.we . had .paid <br />for our po].ice schooling,.the comnittee felt that Caanc3l shonld also : <br />assiune this,bi11..
