Mayor End.ress than said that Ordinance No. 6219 zihich was intended <br />-to take care of Storm and Sanitary Sewers in the Eastgage Estates should now <br />be discussed. Mxe Edelman then read Ordinance No. 621 with the proposed <br />changeso Mayor Endress then read a letter from our Engineer in which he said <br />that the project should be constructed for less than the 3ow bid of $66,713.50 <br />and recommendi.ng most highly that the ordinance be approved by Council as of <br />great benefit to tdze Vi.17.age and a gernzine bargain for the residents involverlQ <br />Nx^. Falk then sa3.d tha-t the Zoning and Planning Board did not request these <br />oversiZed facilities, as mentioned in the ordinance9 but wer_t along with the <br />County's request for such instal.lations, IKr. Falk wi.shed to >have this changed <br />in the ord.inance. <br />Again -tners Tgas a great deal of discuss%on over this ordinance' <br />vtiri.th all the residen'ts of Thornapple an3 some residents being represented by <br />Yir. Capre°tta and ba.s development. Counc3.1 called for maps of the area and <br />spent considerable time wri.th aur engi.neer in going over the whole plan, Mr. <br />Capretta said t,hat his people were alarmed over +he possibility tdzat they might <br />be forced to cu-t into this sys-tem and such a cost tiiould bring the price of his <br />3ots out of the present market. There was also a great deal of discussion on <br />the difference in cost of a pumping station tv take care of the ori.ginal <br />allotment as against the enlarged station built to take care of the entire area. <br />No satisfactory answer could be arrived at, as costs were only estimates and <br />none of the work had as yet been started. There was a7_so some discussion as . <br />to whetlzer the di-tch now carryi.rg the affluent from Thornapple was a natural <br />water course or just an artificial ditch dug for this purpose. It was also <br />brought out that the size of t he pipe in the high pressure line would be the <br />same, whether the system was enlarged or not. - <br />Mayor Endress then asked if there was a suspension of the rules on <br />the ordinance as amended9which had beerr placed on its second reading. <br />It UTas moved by Mr. Taylor, secorx3.ed by Mr. Wedler' that the x°ules of <br />1aw requring Orei.inance No. 621, "An Ord.inance Prohibiting for a Periocl of Ten <br />Years Any connections Into Storm and Sanitary Sewers to be Instal7.ed by <br />Gabriel Constructa.on Coo and Carl A. DeFranco Within Elsena Acres and Kenwood <br />Gardens Divi.sion by Oy,m.ers of -Froperty Ou.tside of Said Subdivisions Without <br />Payment of a Pro Rata Share of the Cost of sai.d Storm or Sanitary Sewer Systems", <br />to be read on 'uhree separate occasions, be suspended. <br />Ro11 Ca11: Ayes -Messrs Taylor'Wedler'Strater.,Zorn & Hopkins. <br />Nays - Mrs o BroUrn. , - <br />NTota.on carried <br />Rizles Suspended, <br />Zt was moved by Mr. ?nTedler, seconded by Mro Taylor' that Ordinance <br />No, 621 be approved and passed as amend?ed and read, r <br />Ro71 Call: Ayes -Messrs Taylor3Wedler'stra•ter anl Hopkin.s. <br />Nays - Mrs. Bronm and 14r.
