Taylor, reported for the I'inance Comnii-ttee, said that he would like to <br />express the appreciation of, the Committee to the citizens of aur Vil_lage for the <br />passage of the opera-P,ing levy' which wou3d cer-tainly help in executing the services <br />of the Vi11.age. ' <br />Mayor Endress then said that he wovld 1ike to appoint Mr. William Shortle <br />as Chief of Police on a six months probation. <br />It was moved by Mr. S trater, seconded by Mr. Hopkins, that.this appointment <br />be confirmed. - <br />Roll Ca11: Ayes - Messrs Taylor, Wedler'Stxater,Brown,Zorn & Hopkins. <br />,Nays - None. , . , <br />, Motion carried <br />Appointnent Confirmed <br />Mr. Edelman said that he woul.d prepare a bond for Mr. Shortle. 1-7r. <br />Ede3man9 a Notary Public' then administered the Oath of Office to Police <br />Chief Shortlee - <br />Mayor Endress then said that on "Full Time patrolmen", he had four or <br />five different men to consider and had -one tha-t appealed to bouh h3mself and <br />Mra Shortle. This man, Mro Ralph Shimandler, 37 years of age, had •had five; years <br />auxiliary police experience, 2 years special police and was Safety Director of <br />Oakwood School ard Treasurer- of the Auxiliary Police. _ Mro Shimandler would not, <br />however, be available until December, but would be ab1.e to help out if needed. <br />- Mayor Endress said that he thought this man should be assigned as a <br />special policeman to see hour he worked out and it would be necessary to increase <br />the number of hours worked by speeials to 94. Nlayor Endress said that this <br />would allaw them to use the Radar, and relieve some of the load naw being <br />carried by our police. <br />Mayor Endress-then said that he would like to appoint Mre Ralph Shimandler <br />as a special po].iceman effective immediat,ely. Several af the Councilmen asked <br />i.i he would have to take a physical e,xamination and Mayor Endress said,. "by a11 <br />means." Mr. Strater then asked i.f he might have a copy of the Iloctoras report. <br />It was moved by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr. Hopkins, that this appointinent be <br />confirmed.
