Mayor Bennett recommended Lieut. Ernie Whitman for a promotion to Captain <br />in the Fire Department. <br />Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Davis, moved to confirm the promotion of Lieut. <br />Ernie Whitman to Captain. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Shaw, Busa, Walker, Mason, Sloan & Davis. <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion carried <br />Appointment confirmed <br />Mr. Peterson reported that he had talked to Mrm Walter Spillburg and that <br />he plans to widen SOM, take the water South along SOM, up to the creek. This <br />work is to begin some time itt July, 1967. <br />Mayor Hennett and the Engineers have talked to Mr. DeMore about the catch <br />basin at Aintree Park and SOM. They will determine whose responsibility it is. <br />Mr. Weiss reported that he had checked on Mr. Schultzgs problem with the <br />water from the Freeway. He read from a report of March 6, 1962, "The system is <br />adequate f or the quantity of water to be delivered by the Freeway, as long as <br />there is no development of higher lands." Now that Alpha Drive is being developed, <br />there is a problem. Mr. Mason inquired if it was a private or public matter. Mr. <br />Weiss said that it generally was a private matter, but thittks that we should take <br />a look at it and report back to Council. <br />Mr. Mason asked Mr. Weiss if he had checked the amount of land that was <br />inundated. Mr. Weiss said that it was draining through about 286 acres because <br />the creek cannot handle it. <br />Mr. Sloan inquired about the salt from the Freeway ruining Mr. Schultz's <br />trees. Mr. Edelman thought f rom a legal standpoint this was between the State <br />and Mr. Schultz. <br />Mr. Mason asked Mr. Weiss about the plans f or the North end of Worton <br />Parlc. Mr. Weiss said that the field work is being done now and that he will <br />have an estimate for the next meeting so that the Council can advertise for bids. <br />Mayor Bennett announced that since the storm sewer is going to be put in <br />next Ju1y along the West side of SOM Center Road North of Wilson Mills Road, it <br />would not be wise to install the sidewalks until this project was completed. <br />Nir. Busa, seconded by Mr. Shaw, introduced an Ordinance #973 to repeal <br />Ordinance #966, entitled: "An Ordinance Determining to Proceed tidith the <br />Improvement on SOM Center Road in the Village of Mayfield by the Construction <br />and Installation of a Sidewalk and Declaring an Emergency", which ordinance <br />was read to Council. <br />Mr. Sloan, seconded by Mr. Mason, moved that the rule of law requiring <br />an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be suspended, <br />5.
