Mr. Bennett then reported that the door on the Fire Department
Building would have to wait until the man gets back in town bef ore it can
be repaired.
Mr. Belzer, reporting f or the Safety and Service Committee, said that
they had met on r4arch 4th, 1963, with rather a quick meeting; that the Fire
Department had an offer of $400 for their radios. Mra Harvey had offered
$150.00. Mr. Belzer said that he thought we should.put the radios out for bids
as soon as possible. Mayor Endress asked if there were any specif icat?ons and
Mr. Belzer said no. Mayor Endress then said that we should settle on what we
were going to require bids, and also as to whether Highland Heights was going
to go in with us. Mr. Edelman said that he had.not talked with Highland Heights
as he understood we were going to buy equipment and lease it to them and not
go in with them. Mayor Endress then asked Chie£ Porter about specif ications
and he said that more?than likely they all got them from De Harvey, Mayor
Endress then asked Mr. Porter to check with De Harvey and get an idea from
several others as to what they were asking for and by the time he had checked
with -two or three there would be.some idea of what should be in the specbfi-
cationse Mayor Endress also asked Air. Porter to get a copy of Lyndhurstgs
specif ications to go by and reiterated that we should know whether Highland
Heights was going to go in with us before d.oing anything. Mr. Belzer sagd
that we should figure the cost of the whole thing and then we would have something
to tell Highland Heights as fio what it would cost themo .
Mr. Belzer th.en mentioned that at one ,time we had talked of making a
connection with the Beech Hill and Wilson Mills water main. Mayor Endress
said that we always run into the fact of how do you assess f or this improvement,
Can we assess the County and would they pay? Mr. Edelman said thait we could
probably assess the Coun'ty. . but they might f ight tlze assessment and asked. if
the Village would pay 2% and intersections on thise Some discussion iaas had
on the house on a corner lot on Wilson Mills and Beeehhill. This house.was connected to the•Wilson Mills line but had three hundred feet on Beechhill
which was its side lot. Mrm Edelman said that we might be able to show
benef itted property on this but would have a lawsuit to contend with. Mayor.
Endress said that our Village should not contribute more than 27. on this and
asked Mr. Edelman to f ind out if this could be assessedo Mr. Edelman said
tha,t he would contact the County and see what their attitude would be on such
an improvementv
Mr. Wedler, reporting f or the Zoning and Planning Commission, said that,
they had had a meeting last Monday with no secretary; that they had quite a,
discussion. Mro Wedler then brought up the matter of the new lights being
sold by the Illuminating Company f or private property and spoke particularly
of the installment on Robley Lane. Mr. Wedler said that he would not want
such an installation near his home. There was a great deal of discussion in
Council on this subject and Mr. Wedler asked if something could be done to
control this type of installation, saying that people who lived next to such a
lighting setup should have some protection. Mayor Endress then asked Mr.
Edelman if something could be done to control this and Mr. Edelman said he
did not know of anything, but would check into it.
2.
