This evoked a great deal of
discussion in Council on radios, their needs, and ways and means. Mayor Endress
then spoke of talking with the Mayor of Mayfield Heights on this matter and he
said that he did not know what they were going to do and that he did not know
how they were going to find the money for all that the firemea wanted. Allan
Hejcl then talked of a meeting attended in Lyndhurst and said that they had the
saffie trouble in Lyndhurst as in Mayfield Heights, they just did not have anyone
to man their equipmente Mr< Bennefit then talked with Mr. Weiss on the telephone
and he told Mr. Bennett that there would be no charge for manning our Radios
from the telephone answering house on Minor Road and that he was all f or it
personally. Mr. Bennett, seconded by Mr. Belzer; then introduced Ordinance No: 802
entitled, "An Ordinance To Purchase Certain Radio Broadcasting Equipment For
The Fire Department From General Electric Company", which ordinance was read
to Council.
- It was moved by Mr. Bennett, seconded by Mr. Belzer, that the rules of law
requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be suspended.
Roll Call; Ayes - Mr. Bennett and Mr. Belzer:
Nays - Nlessrs. Wedler, Shaw, Mason and Sloan.
As a suspension of rules had f ailed, this ordinance was then placed upon
its f irst reading. Mr. Bennett then asked Council what they were going to do now;. that everyone
was just stalling. Mr. Mason asked Mr. Bennett to see if he could not get
DeHarvey to extend the time limit on the bid to next Council Meeting. Mrm
Bennett, after calling DeHarvey, then reported that we would have enough time
to cover-the next Council Meeting.
As Council still felt that they had insuff icient inf ormation covering the
Fire Depa.rtment Radios, Mr. Bennett was asked to check into any questions
that remained unanswered, Mayor Endress said he would-again check with May-
f ield Heights Mayor and see i£ they had decided upon anything '• .
Mr. Busek f rom Metro Park Drive then asked what was done about relief
on Metro Park Drive from Water; that water was coming up through their, floors
and drains. Mr. Zorn said that he was of the opinion that the sewer on
Metro Park was not big enough, however, he could not make it any bigger, as
there was no way to get it across the park. Their sewer was only 16 inches
and he could not make the Nietro Sewer any bigger than 12 inches because of
this. The Storm sewer was not designed to cut into anything as there was
nothing to-cut into.
6.
