Mr. Mason said again.that_Council had met with these geople; that their <br />plans were the only thing they wished to bufld and there was no recourse to <br />any other ideas. Mr. Beaciett said that we could not aff ord another auit. <br />- , One of the Moumt Vernon people, Mr. Rothenfeld, President, wtio was present, <br />said that all they wished was.to sit down with Council and see if they could not <br />come up with a solntion that would be of benef it to the Village; that Council <br />did not ma.nd.sitting down with.the Regional Planning Cammission and discussing <br />things but would not do so with them; that a shirt sleeve session was-an ? <br />exchattge of ideas and-that just by voting tt?eir plans down did not mean that <br />Council was going to get rid oE them thereafter; that.theq were here and were <br />going to staq and would have to_txse the land to the best advat?tage they could. <br />They saa.d that Council worked by Gamittee and they were asking for ttie sauae <br />Lype of consideration; that.they felt tfaat they could work with Counci.l.and <br />come up with a. plara that caould be advantageous to the Vi.llage. <br />The represetttative said that every time this matter had come before . <br />Council was at a public sessicsn atad ended up in aa argument; that they did aot <br />deny pnblic sessions are necessary bnt they had to worlc for a comon goal; that <br />is to use the land to its best advantage for the Village and the community; <br />that they couad aot use the land. to the best advantage for industra.al use, <br />that they could not attraet anything like itrdustxy and they wou7.d be glad to <br />sit down and discuss angrthing else and i€ they cannot develop for industxy, <br />the only recourse would be to sue. They then asked that Gouncil make arrange- <br />ments and set the place to have a meeting. <br />Mayor Endress asked Cotancil to make these arrangeffietats. Mr. Maaon was <br />the only Councilmets then to speak out against the proceedings. Mayor Endress <br />said that this meeta,ng woald be aaxanged later. <br />Mr. Henry said that after a decisiop had been reached on the Mount Qernon <br />issue, he cotald have the plans for our Master Pla.n ready the next day. <br />Mayor Endress then read a letteP from Mr. Pdwers, reszgning fram the Fire <br />Department. Mr. Powers saa.cl that he could not devote the necessary time to <br />departauent meetings atxd drills. <br />It csas moved by Mr. Sloan, seconded by Mra Masotas that this resignation <br />be accepted, with regret. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs.Shaw. Betsnett, Walker, Mason and Sloan. <br />N8z?s - No[ie. . . <br />Mayor Endress then read the cotoanittee reports to Council. <br />Mr. Mason reported that there were complaints about the Wilson Mills <br />sidewalks;.that residents could not get Mr. Bordonaro to do acrything. Mr. <br />Mason said that he'wished to see this thing cleared up. Mr. Wefss said that he <br />would pnrsne this matter some unoree . <br />5.
