~~~
2
COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS - No Comment.
STANDARD COMMITTEE REPORTS
Budget/Appropriations - Mr. Bennett requested an executive session late_ in
the meeting to discuss the typographical errors in the new pay ordi-
nance. He asked Mayor Beebe how Chief Hejcl is doing.
Mayor Beebe said he had talked to Chief Hejcl this afternoon and tests
have revealed no serious illness. The Chief said the problem stems
from tension and nerves. Plenty of rest should correct the situation.
Pub]_ic Safety - Mr. Flynn said there had been no meeting but Council
re~:~ived the bid results on the two Police Cars. Deacons was the only
one submitting a bid for $7515.OO.per-unit.
Mr. Beatty stated that a letter, that was presumed to be a bid, was
held until the opening date. It turned out to be a request for infor-
mation regarding the specifications and he felt the cars should be re-
advertised.
Discussion was held on the legality~of rejecting Deacons bid and also
a moral obligation as Deacon has revealed his bid.
Mayor Beebe stated that the envelopes should be required to state a
bid is enclosed. _
Discussions were held on the coverage the Village is getting in the
Sun Press.
Chief Stevens pointed out that the bids on these cars are lower than
the outright purchase price of previous cars.
Mr. Grogan commented that with the economy today we might get a better
deal if we readvertise.
Mr. Beatty questioned Chief Stevens on the engine size. Chief Stevens
said he prefered the 400 but 350 would be satisfactory. Alternate bids
could be secured.
Mr. Bennett commented that Deacons should be contacted on a personal
basis to inform him of Council's intent.
Mr. Grogan, seconded by Mr. Busa, made a motion to reject the bid received
because it is too high and readvertise.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Clerk to readvertise.
Public Service/Public Utilities - Mr. Flynn said he had a fourth compan
scheduled for their presentation on Cable T.V. before the next meeting
and hoped to have the matter settled by the January Meeting. He doesn't
have anything further to report on the progress of the new service building,
The underdrah~ are b~~~~ installed on the Wilson Mills Road project.
