-6- <br />. <br />The Mayor commented on the Van Curen 1aw sui.t which the Village won <br />and gave credit to Regional Planning and Richard Schanfarber (Sandalwood) <br />who testified on the Village's behalfo He also made mention that all <br />Councilmen and P& Z members were advised of the proCeedings but because <br />of the undetermined length of the trial, it would have been too difficult <br />for men to leave thei.r jobs to attend; however the Mayor, Messrs. <br />D'Agostino & Hovancsek were present for several days. <br />"Dogs at La.rge" mailing sent to several quadrants of the Village.• The <br />Ordinance will be more strongly enforced. ? <br />Area Problems: Mr. Prather was elected as President of the Aintree <br />Homeocaners. The County Commissioners have agreed to screen and resod <br />the Hickory Hi11 treatment plant and give property owners abutting this <br />pl ant the right to use equal parts of-the front area in exchange for <br />mowing the lawns. Still awaiting replies from various sources on <br />correcting the Beech Hill/Bonnieview situation. Clean-up campaign <br />u.nderway on S.O.M. "The Man and Woman" Magazine openly displayed in <br />a local store has been placed behind the counter after having received <br />several complaints. The Mayor advised there were 37 final applica?-its ror the p atrolman's <br />positiono A very thorough and efficient testing schedul.e has been <br />warked out and the overall operation of the Police Department has been <br />conducted expertl.y by the Sergeant during Chief Shortle's absence. <br />The Mayor acknowledged a two-page letter received from Mr. Robert <br />Barcl.ay of-1ering his services to the Village. He has asked Mr. Barclay <br />to serve on the Volunteer Firemen's Dependents Fund Board and he has <br />accepted, Chief Hejcl reported two members were elected by the Fire <br />Department and two have to be appointed by Council. The Mayor stated <br />he woul.d suggest another individual at a later time -ffor appointment. <br />' Mro Leech, seconded by Mr. Davis, made a motion to accept the appoint- <br />ment of Mr. Robert Barclay to the Volunteer Firemen's Dependents Fund. <br />Roll Call: AYES: Messrs. Boger, Bordonaro, Braun, <br />Davis, Leech, & Schmidt <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Appointment Confirmed <br />Ordinance 73-12; entitled, "AN ORDZIVANCE PROVIDTNG FOR THE EMPLOYMENT <br />OF AN ENGINEER FOR THE VTLLAGE OF MAYFIELD", introduced by Mr. Davis. <br />This includes raising the Engineer's hourly rate from $18 to $20 and <br />inspector's rate from $6 to $8. The Mayor commented he had requested <br />comparative rates from Mr. Hovancsek of surrounding areas and found <br />that this increase was stilZ a bit bel.ow average. <br />M-ro Davis, seconded by Mr. Boger, made a motion to suspend the rules <br />reauiring an Ordinance be read on three separate occasions. <br />Roll Callo AYESo Messrs. Boger, Bordonaro, Braun, <br />Davis, Leech, & Schmidt <br />NAYS: None <br />. Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended
