6. <br />Pl •n~ and Zoning Commission - Mr. Fitz-Gerald <br />Mr. Fitz-Gerald read the minutes of the April 13, 1970 Planning and Zoning <br />meeting. <br />Mr. Squire, representing Land & Properties Development Co. presented plans <br />at the Planning and Zoning meeting for a Holiday Inn to be located at the <br />southwest corner of Wilson Mills Road and Interstate 271. <br />Mr. Davis introduced Ordinance No. 70-20, entitled: " AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND <br />THE ZONING `ORDINANCE OF MAYFIELD BY TRANSFERRING CERTAIN PROPERTY ON THE <br />SOUTHERLY SIDE OF WILSON MILLS ROAD INTO MOTORIST SERVICE DISTRICT, BUT <br />LIMITED TO MOTEL ACCOMODATIONS AND USES ACCESSORY THERE T0." <br />,_ <br />Ordinance No. 70-20 was placed on first reading and referred `to Planning. <br />and Zoning for review, study and .recommendation to Cori.n.cil. A date for a <br />public hearing will be set at the next Council meeting. '' <br />Dr. E.H. Season ,.Aintree Park ., was present and was concerned about the <br />variances asked for by Peoples Home Construction Co. for subdividing the <br />property formerly owned by William Henry. <br />The variances were not granted at the last meeting, but w~.ll be discussed <br />at the next workshop meeting. Mr. D'Agostino will present them with plans. <br />Safety and Service - Mr. Schmidt <br />Mr. Schmidt read the minutes of the April 6, 1970 meeting. <br />The Safety and Service Committee recommended that the conversion of Patrol- <br />man Donald Gould's part-time hours be added to his full-time record in such <br />a manner as to not affect the present seniority status of the Police De= <br />partment.~ This will require an ordinance which Mr. Edelman will prepaxe. <br />A test was given to fill vacancies of Lieutenant and Captain in the Fire <br />Department, on April 14, 1970.. <br />It was recommended that the request of the Asst. to the Clerk-Treas. to be <br />placed on a definite schedule be honored, subject to-the approval of the <br />Clerk-Treasurer -and the Finance Committee. <br />It was also recommended, subject to the approval of the Finance Committee <br />that a stenographer be hired to record the minutes of Council, Planning & <br />Zoning and Safety and Service. <br />Chief Hejcl informed the Committee that our full time fireman would be <br />completing his first year , and he felt that a raise in salary was in <br />order. .This matter was referred to Finance Committee. <br />Chief Shortle asked the Committee about the possibility of creating addition- <br />al rank in the Police Department by July 1, 1970.:.. A sub-committee was appoint- <br />ed to discuss the basis for this ordinance acrd to de-termine the financial <br />aspects. <br />Mr. Schmidt, seconded by; Mr. Davis, introduced Resolution No. 722, entitled: <br />
