NIINUTEa OF PUBLIC HEARING <br />Village of Mayfield <br />February 4, 1971 <br />The Council of the Village of Tayfield met at a Public Hear- <br />ing at St. Bartholornew Church on Thursday, February 4, 1971 <br />at 8:15 P.M., Mayor Busa, presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present: Messrs. Leech, Bordonaro, Boger and <br />Davis. <br />Absent: Messrs. Fitz-Gerald and Schmidt. <br />Also present were I'Zayor Busa, l~lessrs~. Lockemer, Edelman and <br />Hovancsek. <br />Mr. Edelman read the proposed Ordinance ;~70-51, Entitled: <br />"A1V ORDINAITCE TO AT~-;E1y~D THE ~UNIIdG ORDIi~TANCE OF THE VILLAGE <br />OF P~IAYF IELD i3Y TRANSFERP~I3VTG CERTAIN PtZOPLRTY FitOTvi CLASS U-1 <br />UaE DISTRICT TU AN OFFICE-LAt30RATORY DISTRICT." <br />Notices of this public hearing were published in the news- <br />papers and sent~to all adjoining property owners of the <br />proposed site of Gould, Inc. at the southwest quadrangle <br />of Interstate 271 and Wilson Mills Road. The hearing was <br />scheduled for the express purpose of hearing opinions for <br />and against the rezoning for Gould, Inc. Mayor Busa stated <br />that council does not take any action at this time and that <br />the purpose is to be here to learn the pros and cons of the <br />proposed ordinance. <br />Mr. Robert Payne, representing Gould, Inc. opened the hear- <br />ing by stating that, "We are trying to maintain a long his- <br />tory of operations in this country. We have plants in St. <br />Paul, Cleveland's Clevite Corp. and Chicago. We wish to <br />maintain headquarters here with an office-research complex <br />_.. on ~,`ilson I~Zills Road and Interstate 271. This particular <br />piece of ground suited our needs and best interests and we <br />are concerned in the rezoning of 39 acres for the entire <br />package." <br />"This initial development for research would be 110,000 sq. <br />ft., 2 stories 35' high, which includes Corporate rieadquar- <br />ters, 65,000 sq. ft. employing 225 people of which 150 ,gill <br />be corporate planners and headquarters type people and many <br />in the early state. In prase 2 or 3 they might stretch out <br />into 5 years. The component assembly operation (electronics <br />assembly) there will be 45-50,000 sq. ft. and about 12 <br />e:~ployees. In the assembly area about 125 to 150 people." <br /> Mr. Payne introduced Mr. Harry Schalfman, the developer <br /> representing Austin Company, and he spoke about the merits <br />
