8. <br />Police Dept: Chief Shortle: Read his monthly report. <br />At tonight's council meeting, Mayor Busa, concerned over the rash <br />of home burglaries in Mayfield Village during recent months, has <br />offered a personal reward of $100.00 for information leading to <br />the arrest and conviction of any person or persons found guilty <br />of breaking into an inhabited dwelling and removing any of its <br />contents. He has promised immunity to any and all informants. <br />The mayor also issued an official warning that any person or <br />persons caught breaking and entering or invading the privacy of <br />Village residents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the <br />law and he will personally follow-up each case and demand the maxi- <br />mum.penalty. If any case is processed in mayor's court, he <br />promises a fair and speedy trial before the thief is hung. <br />The mayor hopes that his personal reward of $100000 will be a <br />kick-off for raising a i°War Chest" or "Mayor's Discretionary <br />Fund" to combat this wave of house-breakingso ~Ie urges all <br />concerned citizens and civic groups of Mayfield Village to make <br />voluntary contributions to this "War Chest" in order to make <br />rewards larger and more effective. <br />Mayor Busa said the mayor°'s salary is much too small to continue <br />to use personal funds to buy "dope" from drug users and pushers <br />in order to cs,tch them or to put up a larger reward to apprehend <br />house thieves. He asked for citizen's participation including <br />civic and home-owners° organizationso For further information <br />or participation, citizens may contact the mayor at his home or <br />the village hall or they may contact the police chiefo <br />Village Engineer: Mr. Hovancsek: No further reporto <br />RESOLUTION #791: Mr. Davis introduced RESOLUTION #791, Entitled: <br />"A RESOLUTION MEMORALILING THE OHIO GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO ADOPT <br />LEGISLATION TO AMEND THE OHIO CONSTITUTION SO AS TO GIVE RELIEF <br />TO THE INDIVZI?UAL TAXPAYER; AS OPPOSED TO COMMERCIAL AND INDUSm <br />TRIAL PROPERTY OWNERSo" <br />Mr. Davis, seconded by Mro Fitz-Gerald, made a motion to suspend <br />the rules of law requiring a motion to be read on three separate <br />occasionso Roll Call: AYES: Messrs. Fitz-Gerald, Boger and Daviso <br />NAYS: Messrso Leech and Bordonaroo <br />Motion Not Carried <br />Mr. Davis, seconded by Mro Fitz-Gerald, made a motion to rescind <br />the previous roll Gallo Roll Call: AYES: Messrso Fitz-Gerald, <br />Bordonaro, Boger and Davis. NAYS: Mr. Leecho <br />Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Fitz-Gerald, seconded by Mro Davis, moved that Resolution <br />X791 be approved and passed as reado Roll Call: AYES: Messrs. <br />Fitz-Gerald, Bordonaro, Boger and Daviso NAYS: Mre Leecho <br />Motion Carried <br />Resolution Passed <br />
