<br />55 <br />MIN.UTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL <br /> <br />Mayfield Village <br />April 6, 1987 <br />The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, April <br />6, 1987, at 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall. Council <br />President Santo Basile presided. <br />Roll Call: Present: Mr. Basile, Mr. Etzler, Mr. Flynn, Mr. Goley, and <br />Mr. Petschauer <br />Absent : None <br />? <br />Also Present Were . Mayor Carmen, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Feneli, Mr. Hovancsek, <br />Mr. Patrick, Chief Stevens, Acting Chief Mohr, and <br />Miss Heath. <br />Mr. Basile stated this Special Meeting had been called to consider <br />Ordinance No. 87-8, the employee wage ordinance. <br />Third Reading of Ordinance No. 87-8, entitled; "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING <br />WAGES, BENEFITS AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR EMPLOYEES <br />OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IIVCONSISTENT HEREWITH <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Council as a Whole. (First <br />Reading 3/9/87, Second Reading 3/16/87.) <br />Mr. Goley, seconded by Mr. Flynn, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 87-8. <br />Mr. Feneli.explained that Mr. Patrick had brought to his attention Ordinance <br />87-13 that Couricil enacted on July 21, 1986, which established a separate <br />sectio.n pertaining to the definition of a"day" for the f ire department to <br />calculate vacation time. Mr. Ferieli said, therefore, Ordinance No. 87-8 <br />should have another section following Section 12 that would include this <br />information (Section 13.) <br />Mr. Goley, seconded by Mr. Flynn, made a motion to amend ordinance 87-8 <br />to include the terms noted in Ordinance No. 86-13, which would be noted <br />in Ordinance No. 87-8 with a new Section (13.) <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Ordinance Amended <br />Mr. Etzler said that it is his personal feeling that a two-year.commitment <br />is not good for the employees or the Village; for that reason he is opposed <br />to the ordinance. <br />Mayor Carmen said that ordinances can be amended. If we determine the Village <br />income level is appropriate we can maintain the figures quo'ted for 1988, or <br />the ordinance can be amended to reflect higher or lower figures next year.
