(First Reading 9/21/87.) <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Traffic Light at Raleigh and Wilson Mills - Mayor Carmen said <br /> that he and Mr. Hovancsek met last week with Mr. Overmyer. They <br /> reviewed the plans for a traffic light that were prepared when <br /> that intersection was de signed. Mr. Overmyer determined th at it <br /> would be possible to pla ce a signal at that location. The cost <br /> would be approximately $10,000o Mayor Carmen said that they <br /> determined that it would not be wise to install the light now <br /> since the road will be torn up next year when the Wilson Mills <br /> Road resurfacing project beginse Mayor Carmen said they are put- <br /> ting together plans and a letter to send to residents in th e af- <br /> fected areas to let them know installation of a signal is being <br /> contemplated at the same time Wilson Mills Road will be done next <br /> Spring. <br />Traffic Light at Beta and S.O.M. - Mr. Hovancsek said that the <br />plans have been forwarded to the Highway Department for their <br />review and approvale He said as soon as we receive their concur- <br />rence on the plans, he suggests we advertise for bids. He asked <br />for a motion from Council to authorize the advertisement. <br />Mayor Carmen explained that he could authorize the advertisement <br />of bids, a motion from Council is not necessary. <br />Mr. Basile asked if the light would only be working during rush <br />periods and put on flasher the rest of the time. <br />Mr. Hovancsek said that it could be put on flasher during non- <br />peak hours. <br />? <br />0 <br />149
