161 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL Mayfield Village November 5, 1987 The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Thursday, November 5, 1.987, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall. Council P:resident,San`to 'Bas`ile presided. ' Roll Call: Present: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Buzek, Mr. Flynn,'and Mr. Petschauer Absent . Mr. Etzler - Also Present Was: Miss Heath Mre Basile stated the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Musca property variance request. Mr. Basile said they cannot have a patio because they are going onto another piece of property. Mrs. Buzek said after weighing both options and listening to all comments presented, she feels the restaurant disadvantages might be balanced by the office commitmente She feels that office space is more desirable than fast food chains in this area. She hopes a policy of some type.could be set in the future regarding variances to warn builders that Mayfield Village has strong ob- jection to granting variances and that we will not listen as much as we have in the past. She feels there is potential for a law- suit if the variance is not granted. Mr. Petschauer said he feels consideration must be taken of the restaurants in the area. He thinks a compromise can still be made by which they can increase the office space and decrease the retail space. He would request that they increase the office space to 1,300 square feet. Mr. Flynn said the neighboring homeowners in that area are al- ready inundated by restaurants and he would not want to harm their property values by this. Discussion was held. Mr. Basile felt Council should "draw the line" and require people to live by the code. Al1 members of Council agreedm Mrs Flynn, seconded by Mr. Petschauer, made a motion to turn down the request for a 20 car parking variance at the Village Plaza located on the Musca property.
