180
Regular Council Meeting
6/20/94
Page Twenty
Mrs. Cinco said the Finance Committee said they are not going along with this until
1995. ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
Mr. Fixler, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 94-36.
Mr. Fixler said when Mr. Amendola gave his presentation to Safety and Service, he
made it quite clear that the Service Departmen.t needed this truck. We have also had
several discussions regarding trade-in value and how it would disintegrate over time.
If there is discussion whether there is a trade-off for one piece of equipment or another,
then that is a totally different discussion. He sees no reason to hold off on the truck a
year because the trade-in value will disintegrate by 50% if not more.
Mr. Amendola said this company is not going to give the same allowance--within
another 30 days they will lose another $1,000 on each vehicle.
Mayor Rinker asked Mr. Amendola to explain the basis for his requests for vehicles for
the record.
Mr. Amendola said they are taking a ton and a half vehicle instead of a two ton vehicle.
A two ton vehicle goes for about $67,000; a ton and a half goes for roughly $40,000.
They have offered us $13,500 trade-in. Mr. Amendola said they are trying to get a
balance of their trucks. When there is heavy snow, a heavier truck is needed to move it.
When there is lighter snow, a lighter truck is used for the cul-de-sacs. This cannot be
done with a big truck because it comes with a fixed plow. A ton and a half truck can be
used for any of the hauling they do. The dump truck they want to trade in is 1988; the
pick up is 1989.
Mr. Flynn said some of the feelings from the Finance Committee is that there are other
areas that are a little bit neglected like possibly local drainage areas; if they can hold on
a certain item and have more funds going toward the drainage areas.
ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Fixler
NAYS: Mr. Flynn, Mr. Stephens
Motion Not Carried
Ordinance Failed
