229,
231
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
September 6,1994
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Tuesday, September 6,1994,
at nine thirty p.m. (9:30 p.m.) in the Council Chambers at the Village giall. Council
CD President joanne Cinco presided.
M ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Basile, Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante,
M and Mr. Fixler
Q and Mr. Stephens
z
C Absent: Mr. Flynn
G
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Brett, Mr. Hanculak, Miss
Heath, Chief Mohr, Bernie Samac and Chief Stevens.
Mrs. Cinco said we received three bids for the sidewalk removal and replacement
project. The engineer recommends we go with Metro Utility in the amount of $13483.75
She asked Mr. Hovancsek when he sees this as being completed (as well as letting the
residents know so they have the option of going with their own contractor.)
Mr. Hovancsek said the Law Director can respond to that. Once the resolution is passed
to do the work, then the property owners receive notice. They are given 30 days to hire
their own contractor and complete the work (which puts us to October 6.) 'I'hen, the
contractor comes in and finishes up the job. It is a relatively small contract.
1VIrs. Cinco said that is why this is on the agenda tonight.
Mayor Rinker said if no one opted to hire their own contractor, how long would it take
to do the walks.
Mr. Hovancsek said it is a relatively small project; 2-3 weeks. Typically, it is not too
cold by that time--but time is of the essence. Ideal programs should begin in the spring.
Mr. Ferrante suggested someone visit Dick Schanfarber (Sandalwood/Butternut) and
go over his sidewalk with him. It was redone last year and he went along with the
project and paid for it--but the same sidewalk is marked again this year & Mr.
Schanfarber is very upset.
Mr. Amendola said he believes the tree root is the problem.
