299
Regular Council Meeting
12/19/94
Page Seven Mrs. Cinco expressed thanks to Mr. Samac for all work he put in. She looks to success of
this program as it is implemented come Spring.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
Mrs. Cinco said they will consider the purchase of police cars at this time [per
amendment to agenda.]
Consideration of Bids for Purchase of Police Cars
Mrs. Cinco said everyone has received Chief Stevens' memo. He believes "the actual cost
will be approximately $16,601.50." They are asking for 4 cars, one of which will go to the
Fire Department to replace their 1987 car. The total would be $66,800; the vendor is Jack
Maxton Chevrolet out of Columbus. The final acceptance date is January 18,1995. This is
why the Chief would like to see this approved tonight.
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Ferrante, made a motion to authorize the expenditure of
$66,800 for the purchase of four (4) police cars from Jack Maxton Chevrolet.
Mr. Fixler said he recalls when Cleveland started using the Chevrolet police vehicles, they
had a brake problem. He asked if Chevrolet has modified that.
Chief Stevens said to the best of his knowledge that problem was a lack of education
given the drivers of the car. That was the first year anti-lock brakes were introduced on
police vehicles. He has no mechanical concerns about Chevrolet.
Mayor Rinker said the types of transmission problems we are running into with the Fords
are less than satisfying.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: IVone
Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
Motion to Authorize an Increase in the Promotion and Benefit Account to $2,000
Mr. Fixler, seconded by Mr. Ferrante, made a motion to authorize an increase of $2,000 to
- the Promotion and Benefit account.
