Regular Council Meeting
1/18/93
Page Thirteen ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler,
Mr. Flynn, and Mr. Rinker
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
ANY OTHER MA'I°TER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
Mr. Rinker asked if there were any other questions or comments.
Mr. Rinker said we are looking to our Caucus to do some work on contract matters with
our various Village personnel. That will be the primary focus of that meeting. We will
have a special meeting in advance of that.
There were no other comments from Council.
Mr. Rinker addressed a member of the audience who wished to speak.
Diane Pearn said she has a comment about the Organizational Meeting. She found the
deferment of the appointments a totally uncomfortable situation. People were here in
the audience, they were not sworn in. It seemed half of Council knew, what was going
on; part didn't, and that seemed peculiar to her. She said it seems to me, when you are
working as a team and representing a community that it would be a common courtesy
that all the people on Council would be aware of such a decision. And, if such a
decision were made, why were the people that were here to be sworn in not told to
come. That was a large clump of people and what it boiled down to was one person
that was under consideration.
Mr. Rinker said on the one hand, he thinks it is a fair and astute observation, and about
the only answer he can give to that (however awkward it was), they felt circumstances
were such that the best way to handle this was as discreetly as possible. Mr. Rinker said
he felt it was necessary that we defer them. His feeling was (and he was joined in this
by a number of people) that the Organizational Meeting was not really the proper time
or place for such a discussion. In balancing the lesser of two evils, it seemed the better
way to go was to go as quickly ancl as quietly as they could and to defer that matter.
There being no further business, Mr. Ferrante, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion
to adjourn.
