Regular Council Meeting
8/16/93
Page Five. Second Reading of Ordinance No. 93-32, entitled; "An emergency ordinance amending
Sections 1181.03(a),1181.06, and 1181.07(a) of the Codified Ordinances relating to
minimum frontage and side yards in the single family residential district." Introduced
by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 7/19/93)
Mrs. Cinco said this was the one tYiat.needs to go before the voters. Both Planning and
Zoning and Architectural Review need to give us some input on this. Mrs. Cinco said
therefore, we will keep going on it bizt I think the study needs to be done from those
committees, looking forward to May because I have had no report from A.R.B. or P&Z
concerning this ordinance at this time. Mr. Diemert said it was scheduled for the November election in our original draft. We
thought we would have reports back by now.
Mrs. Cinco said she did not want to suspend just to get on the ballot without their input
unless there is some urgency.
Mr. Flynn said he feels especially the front diameter is important with the size of the
homes we have going in now. _ Mrs. Cinco aslced Mr. Amendola to push this along to P&Z and A.R.B. We have until
September 2 if Council wants to get this on the November ballot.
Mr. Amendola explained that the Architectural Review Board had found that some of
the houses were not set properly on the land. We are still coming in with the 20,000
square feet that our ordinance calls for, but increasing the width of the lot and making it
a little bit shallower so the houses will stand out better on the properfy.
Mrs. Cinco said this aciually came from Ordinance Review.
Mayor Rinker asked if Mr. Hovancsek has any thoughts on this--is it arbitrary--does it
make sense? .
Mr. Hovancsek said it makes some sense to try to establish a basic system and that is
what I believe Gus is trying to do. I believe it does make sense to establish a system and
to give a little bit more space. Mayor Rinker said if we table it now, `ve will come back and re-visit this in May so
there is no point putting it on a deadline if it is not an emergency situation.
Mr. Amendola said he thought the whole batch was going to go at the same time.
