MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
MAYFIELD VILLAGE
AUGUST 5, 1996
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, August 5, 1996, at eight
o'clock p.m. (8 p.m.) in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President
Mark Fixler presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante,
Mr. Fixler, Mr. Marquardt and Dr. Parker
Absent: Mr. Marquardt. Dr_ Parker and Mayor Rinker
Also Present: Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Hanculak (for Mr. Diemert),
Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Chief Stevens and
Miss Heath
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was given.
OPEN PORTIW LLJ
Mr. Larry Pollack, 6756 Wilson Mills Road, said-his driveway started out about 2" above the
street. 1Vow, the street has dropped and water has gotten under his driveway. It has formed a
ledge and the front of his cars keep getting ruined from going over it. Mr. Metzung told him they
will not use cold patch this year, but will try to cut offpart of his driveway and put asphalt in. He
asked if there is anything he can do in the future, if this does not work and the plow keeps
chewing it up. Mr. Pollack said he built his house and drive to Village specifications. He feels as
a Village resident and builder tha.t if there is a problem, it is not due to the fact of the way it is
built--but because of the way the ordinance reads. There is a danger when someone comes in the
driveway-they must slow down (it is like going over a curb.) He does not think the problem is
unique to his house; he has noticed plows hit coming into Yours Truly. Mr. Pollack said he thinks
Mr.1Vletzung and the Village have tried to remedy the problem, but thinks we might have to look
at the long-range. It is illegal for him to lower his driveway because it does not meet code.
Mr. Ferrante said you will find the same raised aprons throughout the Village. He does not think
we will change it to satisfy one driveway.
Mr. Metzung said he shaved the drive back to the berm line and feathered the area in.
Council President Fixler said let's monitor this and if it becomes a problem, we will address it at
tha.t point. He thanked Mr. Pollack for bringing it to Council's attention.
Sherry Finnertv, 6680 Bonnieview - said the neighbor's kids are crossing the fence and going
through her yard. She lost 3 driveway maxkers last winter. She asked if there is a new law about
trespassing.
