Regular Council Meeting
3-15-99
Page 4
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mrs. Cinco said there was no meeting; no report..
Historical Societv - Mrs. Mills reported that effort is being made to complete the Log Cabin.
The interior has to be finished. Work has begun on the "One Room School-House". The main
layout and the side walls are being installed.
M.A.R.C - Mrs_ Cinco said Mr. Buckholtz attended the meeting for her.
Mr. Buckholtz said as Mr. Thomas indicated, we went to that meeting along with our new
Village representative Ralph Vitale. Superintendent Dr. Price attended. Evidently there were
some questions or a dispute between the M.A.R.C. Director Mr. Weinberg and the Director of
the Adult Education Program. His understanding is that the Adult Education was offering some
programs for children and Mr. Weinberg saw that as a conflict. Dr. Price was there to discuss
the idea of working together in a collaborative effort. One of those efforts would be to begin
offering some of the M.A.R.C. programs in the same booklet that Adult Ed is in which reaches
25,000 homes. Some of the people were reluctant to work together in that way. Board member
George Hughes had intervened and supported the idea of the M.A.R.C. Council working with all
the committees and communities. They took that under advisement. Mr. Buckholtz said it was
his understanding that Mr. Weinberg was going to get together wifh Barbara Gyulai from the
Adult Education program. The M.A.R.C. Board is offering Indians tickets again. It will be
against the Seattle Mariners on Monday, June 20
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Fixler said there was no report.
Planning and Zoning - Mrs. Mills said they didn't have a regular meeting this month. Our next
workshop will be on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. here.
Recreation Board - Mr. Buckholtz said there was a special meeting last Monday to introduce Mr.
Thomas as the new Director to Recreation Board members and what will now be termed as the
former Recreation Steering Committee. Rec. Steering will turn over those duties to N1r. Thomas.
Regular Recreation Board meets this Wednesday. It is also softball sign-up. Mr. Thomas will be
attending meetings from now on as well.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said there is a meeting scheduled for the end of this
month.
A few members of Council checked the calendar and the date was not listed.
Mayor Rinker said it would be good to have it, he thinks he should meet with Rick Novickis.
Mr. Buckholtz said he has talked to him.
Mr. Hovancsek arrived at this time. (8:14 p.m.)
